Dear Honorable Council Members, A friend of mine alerted me to the fact that you will be conducting labor negotiations tonight. I urge you to reduce the exponential rise of financial burden on the residents with respect to employee pension benefits. Labor contract negotiations in our cities, counties and the state should be aimed at incremental increases in employee contributions and proportional reductions in employer (city/county/state - taxpayer) contributions. I urge you to be committed to all labor negotiations that will result in a reduction in City/taxpayer share and an increase in employee share. This is the only way the pensions can be realistically sustained. Please take a strong position with fiscally sound actions that will reduce the unsustainable financial burden on the residents.
