Dear City Council, Police Chief, and Senior Staff,
Please see the below invitation from FEMA to attend one of their 60-minute webinars on updating emergency plans. The email includes a link to the new planning guide. I attended an earlier version of the webinar (where they were looking for input into their draft new document) and I found it quite informative.
When MP updates its Emergency Plan (only cosmetically changes from 2009), it will also need to incorporate SB 160: Emergency Services Cultural Competence.
I have registered for one of the seminars.
Lynne Bramlett,
President, MPC Ready

FEMA Updates Comprehensive Preparedness Guide 101: Developing and Maintaining Emergency Operations Plans
FEMA has updated Comprehensive Preparedness Guide (CPG) 101: Developing and Maintaining Emergency Operations Plans. The document provides guidelines on developing emergency operations plans and promotes a common understanding of the fundamentals of community-based, risk-informed planning and decision making. The guide will help planners examine potential threats and hazards and produce integrated, coordinated and synchronized plans.
Since the guide’s last revision in 2010, practitioners have identified successful practices from real-world events and exercises that can inform the planning process. CPG 101 Version 3 builds on these lessons learned, as well as pertinent new doctrine.
FEMA will host a series of 60-minute webinar sessions to discuss the update and key changes to CPG 101 with whole community partners. These webinars will highlight the changes in the document and help planners at all levels utilize the principles, concepts, tools and process from CPG 101.
Advance registration is required and on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, click on your preferred session below:

Emergency Rental Assistance Even as the American economy continues its recovery from the pandemic, millions of Americans face deep rental debt and fear evictions and the loss of basic housing security. Last month, the Supreme Court blocked the most recent Centers for Disease Control’s eviction moratorium. That’s why now is the time to seek out Emergency Rental Assistance. Emergency Rental Assistance money can be used to cover overdue rent and utility bills so more families can stay in their homes. To access this money, go to consumerfinance.gov/renthelp – enter your state and county where you live and the website will connect you to the programs in your local area so you can apply. Money is moving more quickly in some places than others, but in many places just being in the application process can help keep individuals in their home.
