To Menlo Park City Council and Menlo Park Planning Commission Members, My husband and I have lived in the Allied Arts neighborhood of Menlo Park since 1985. We have always enjoyed patronizing the local downtown Menlo Park restaurants. With the current, shelter in place orders, we have tried to order food from our local restaurants every week, but really look forward to the day that they are able to open again. It has been mentioned in the Nextdoor website the idea of closing off Santa Cruz Ave to through traffic so that the restaurants would be able to add more outdoor seating for their customers. We think this is a great idea, and since the Covid virus will still be with us, we'd feel much safer sitting outside. I know that The Refuge and Carpaccio are on that first little block of Crane St. and I wonder if it would also be possible for that section to also be closed off? Don't know how this all would work for the Winter months, but certainly with Summer coming up it might be just the extra help that the restaurants need at this time. Thank you for your consideration.
