construction hours

We’re noticing on our morning walk that many construction and yard maintenance crews are showing up on residential streets as early as 7am. In most cases, the crews show up at 7 or 7:30 to unload tools and equipment but in their minds they aren’t “working” because they aren’t using machinery yet. Crews show up early and sit in their cars with radios on, they stand around talking, they bang around unloading stuff, they leave their engines idling….this has been going on for years and really is an imposition on all the neighbors. It’s even more so now. This morning we walked by all that, plus a crew on Magnolia Court who started a basement dig at 7:45am. Our ONLY allowed activity these days is confined walking/jogging/bicycling the neighborhoods and during this stressful time it would really make a huge difference if we didn’t have to try to avoid truck traffic and diesel exhaust while out walking. Sidewalks are narrow, and it gets crowded at some intersections when everyone is out for a morning walk or run, so to social distance people have to be able to go into the streets. Please, give us those precious morning hours to get some exercise without having to breathe diesel or worry about social distancing around truck traffic! And before you suggest it, I can’t call all these violations in because honestly there are too many of them. I suggest you issue a warning to all workers, then shut everyone down for a week if any one of them shows up early.
