As the City of Menlo Park considers allowing more recreational activities to resume, I would urge the Council to work with the City’s Pool contractor to ensure that residents have priority to use the pool. Obviously there will need to be precautions to prevent the spread of Covid 19 as City recreational facilities reopen, and precautions are likely to include limited facility hours and limited numbers of people using the facilities. As someone who looks forward to getting back into our community pool for lap swimming, I’m concerned that with all of the Pool subcontracts, teams, camps and other programming likely to resume at the City Pool that we residents may get squeezed out. I urge the Council to represent the Menlo Park resident’s interests so that we have access to our local pool when it does resume operations, in a limited capacity - even if that means that only City of Menlo Park residents are allowed access if there is limited space and limited lap lanes.
