Dear Council and Staff,
Thanks for all of your work in reviewing projects like Parkline to help
make Menlo Park such a vibrant place to live!
I live within walking distance of the site and I’m excited to see it come
to life. Most of all because it adds much-needed housing on a huge parcel
that currently has none. The affordable units in particular are a great
addition to the city’s housing stock and ability to meet Housing Element
goals.
The campus’s focus on welcoming the community, including kids walking and
biking to and from the nearby schools, is fantastic especially as someone
who lives nearby and sees how crowded our bike lanes are at peak times.
And given that 96% of Menlo Park’s workforce commutes in (per the Housing
Element, page 3-5), I’m excited by the chance to create more homes in the
community to help reduce supercommutes. The high percentage of affordable
units within this project, above and beyond what’s required, is especially
meaningful.
I’ve followed the project closely for years -- it’s been a long journey! --
and feel that the Parkline team has done a lot of work to address a lot of
feedback in previous rounds of review, both formal and informal. I’m fully
in support of the current plans and can’t wait to see them come to life.
The sooner the better given the skyrocketing cost of housing!
