Dear council members, With shock and consternation I learned about Chief Bertini's announcement at the council session last night. I've been on the citizen police advisory council for many years. I'm convinced that the city has a very well run police department. It not only has an excellent crime solving record but also does so much in neighborhood outreach, thoughtful interactions with the homeless population, etc. All organizations need to evolve, and there will certainly be change in many police departments across the country, but Chief Bertini is the right person to lead the way for Menlo Park.
