sea level rise rules for new development?

City Council Members: I read in today’s Daily Journal that Burlingame’s council “voiced approval this week of a new zoning map that would require rising waters to be taken into account along the Bay front. New buildings in low-lying areas near the water will be required to have raised first floors and some may need to build and maintain infrastructure like levees or sea walls or leave room for such infrastructure to be constructed in the future.’

I think it would be wise for Menlo Park to consider something similar — or another way to make provisions for future water level rise on the Bay front.

Thanks for all you do - Susan Bryan
