They are bad for the gardener, the resident, the neighbor, and the environment!
Blowing the topsoil away contributes to climate change, and drying out our soil, that could otherwise hold more rainfall, when we get it in quantity.
They also blow all sorts of dust and chemicals into our eyes, nose and mouth, if we are walking nearby.
I rake or sweep all the leaves into my garden beds. If there are too many, or the big slow-to-decompose leaves like avocado, magnolia, loquat, I sweep into a pile or a can, break them down a bit, and wait till they decompose enough to then use as fertilizer or mulch.
Please do what you can to reduce any leaf blower use at all, and please ban the gas-powered ones!
