Mayor Combs & City Council Members,
Something has to happen that helps this project be looked at in different neighborhoods. Not along Santa Cruz!!! Losing the Santa Cruz parking, which is already in short supply? Taking that away? Why would people from other towns come to our restaurants if they cannot park easily. I support more affordable housing in Menlo Park, but in the right locations. This will strengthen our community - but not cause the damage this could.
But our community is built around a shared downtown — and the downtown depends on the public parking plazas. Repurposing those plazas would be a once-in-a-generation decision with extreme consequences.
On this decision, I trust the tax paying residents of Menlo Park to vote for whats best for the town in which they live.
I therefore urge you to adopt the Downtown Parking Plazas Ordinance, giving residents the right to vote on the future of their downtown. There are 35k+ of us living here - and since these are streets we drive on daily for work/commutes/school, they are only going to become worse with more heavy traffic. There is enough already!
Thank you for your service in representing the people of Menlo Park, but represent US, the residents of Menlo Park.
