Mayor Combs, Vice Mayor Nash and Council members Taylor,Schmidt and Wise
My husband and I have lived and owned a home in Menlo Park since 1976. We raised our son here. He is a successful product of Menlo Park’s excellent school system. We love our town.
As older residents who don’t feel safe biking or scootering to downtown we depend on being able to park.
We’ve experienced the highs and lows of our downtown.
A high point. The positive reaction to the Pandemic which allowed our town to safely continue to serve residents.
The loss of our hardware store for a time comes to mind as a low.
Imagine losing that and much much more. Creating a ghost town of a downtown or one not viable for all of us?
We need retail and the parking that comes with it. Menlo Park barely has the parking now to cover need.
The decision on whether or not to take over parking plazas for housing is probably the most contentious city concern we’ve witnessed. Menlo Park is filled with intelligent and caring people. Please listen.
Please consider the real life consequence to all of us -yourselves the town representatives ,merchants and residents alike.
Thank you for serving us.
Best,
Pat Lauridsen
