Dear Mayor Combs and City Council Members, I too support more affordable
housing in Menlo Park -- and no one wrote my email for me or forwarded a
template in support of a change.
Menlo Park has never been a visionary town, and has allowed itself to be
bullied into piecemeal efforts that have resulted in the jankiest downtown
on the Peninsula. We finally have a chance to embrace change and a better
future. I have no doubt that the disruption caused by construction on the
plazas will be unpalatable and perhaps challenging for certain downtown
businesses. But I very much look forward to an influx of new and more
diverse customers and businesses that will breathe new life into our
moribund town and thrive in a rejuvenated downtown. I trust that you will
make approval of any projects on the site conditional upon the replacement
of any lost and newly-needed parking.
Thank you for giving a chance to change and an opportunity for Menlo Park
to say YES to something at last (and note that some of the "letter writers"
are not Menlo Park residents)
