Menlo Park City Council,
I am writing to express my support for the updated Parkline proposal. I work in Menlo Park (at SLAC National Accelerator Lab) and am lucky to live closeby in Palo Alto. Living nearby saves me time in commuting and allows me to bike to work, and generally allows me to feel more integrated in the community. Many of my colleagues commute in from Santa Cruz, San Jose, the East Bay and as far as Concord, given the high cost and limited stock of housing close to SLAC.
The updated proposal increases the number of new homes from 450 to 800, which Im excited to see. This opens up more housing options near our workplace for myself and my colleagues - both directly as the new units are built and indirectly as units open up in older units where residents move into the Parkline units. Additionally, it is good to see the inclusion of units with below market rate rents and deep affordability.
