ABYSMAL TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT IN DOWNTOWN MENLO PARK
Santa Cruz Avenue Area:
· Virtually nobodydrives at 25 mph. I have been overtaken even when doing 35 mph which I onlydo because of aggressive tailgaters.
· Some people use the center lane to overtake(even when I am doing 30+ mph)
· Some people make U-turns around the medians
· Many people totally ignore the STOP signs allalong Santa Cruz and intersections
· Lots of people ignore STOP signs at Draegers
· Lots of people ignore STOP signs at the Cemetery
Other locations:
· Virtually nobody obeys the STOP signs at Cloud/Avy by Bethany church
· Few people stop at Sharon Rd/Altschul by LaEntrada which is especially dangerous because of all the kids
Cyclists:
· Few cyclists observe STOP signs
· E-bikes. There is a problem with kids riding on the sidewalks, often in wrongdirection. They sometimes do not wearhelmets and sometimes have passengers, or are even texting while riding. This is an especial problem when Hillviewlets out
Pedestrians:
· Lots of Jay walkers who dash across Santa Cruzusing the medians
· Some people use the correct crossings but do notactivate the flashing lights which is dangerous when it is dark or rainy
STOP signs:
· There is one just before the Roma restaurant butthen there is a planter that blocks short people and kids from view which isdangerous
Parking Lot Problems:
· Because part of the street is blocked off, somepeople use the parking lots as an alternative street. This is an especial problem by Walgreens.
