Mayor Combs and City Council, I enthusiastically support the Downtown
Parking Plazas Citizens’ Initiative. Menlo Park’s downtown, quite simply,
depends on the access provided by the parking plazas. A decision to
repurpose those lots should be made by the residents who use them - not by
outside consultants, especially THE SAME CONSULTANTS WHO PROPOSED THIS PLAN
IN THE FIRST PLACE. THIS IS A GRIEVOUS CONFLICT OF INTEREST.
THERE ARE MANY OTHER SITES FOR LOW INCOME HOUSING.
Why don’t you see how this will demolish our downtown. Businesses will
fold. Construction will send patrons shopping elsewhere. Businesses will
close. Downtown simply will be a mess during construction.
Adding 7 story buildings will change our small town feel.
Thousands of people will be downtown with no place for children to play.
The space near the library playing fields etc is much better suited to
families.
We DO NOT OPPOSE LOW INCOME HOUSING. WE OPPOSE THIS LOCATION.
LET THE PROPLE OF MENLO PARK DECIDE. NOT 3 people.
Whether Council adopts the ordinance outright, places it on the November
ballot, or calls a special election, it will be a great day for democracy
in Menlo Park. Thank you, -Name -Where You Live
Best, Ellen
