As Mayor, I proposed a motion to Council today to fly the Ukrainian Flag at City Hall in solidarity with the Ukrainian people, which will remain in situ until and when there is a ceasefire.
I would like to thank my fellow Councillors for their support.
The Flag will be flown tomorrow at City Hall offices at 1pm. All are invited to attend. I have also sent an invitation to the Ukrainian Ambassador to Ireland, Ms Larysa Gerasko.
I also seconded the motion to condemn the Russian invasion of the Ukraine proposed by Cllr Cheevers 'That Galway City Council stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian community in Galway and Ireland and across the world' - this motion was passed unanimously.
