Im writing to support action to finalize the design of the Middle Avenue
Pedestrian and Bicycle Rail Crossing project. We need to have this project
ready-to-go while continuing to seek additional funding to bring the
project to completion.
I have children who currently cross El Camino and the train tracks at
Ravenswood to get to Hillview Middle School. This situation will continue
as I have a younger child who will make that crossing in a few years.
While the improvements at some of the other crossings have helped safety,
the protected Middle Crossing would greatly improve the situation. If we
delay the start then I fear we will never complete the project. We should
finalize the project and use funds to prepare and proceed, while sourcing
other funding. It seems like the most cost-efficient action.
