Dear Mayor and Council Members,
Im writing about the Slow Streets Program on tonights agenda.
I applaud the Citys effort to address the safety of our streets. I ask that additional input and outreach be sought by Staff from residents in the form of community meetings to get further input and buy-in from our community regarding the proposed program. methodology used and countermeasures recommended. There are real concerns with the data being used, the methodology, and the impact of the program as proposed. The rigid criteria proposed to evaluate and prioritize traffic calming doesnt appear to align with how residents evaluate the safety of our streets.
Could Council direct Staff to engage the community further to make the program reflect residents concerns about speeding and safety?
