Dear Honorable City Council Members,
I am writing to express my excitement about this proposal.
The importance of appliance electrification cannot be understated. Currently, gas use in MP accounts for 40% of the carbon pollution. Unfortunately, the current state of transitioning to electric appliances is summed up as: "if you can afford it, and if you have the inclination”.
This project lays the ground work for removing, at the very least, the first obstacle.
As a renter in MP with gas appliances, I feel a sense of helplessness knowing that my landlord is unlikely to take on any unnecessary (if you define having a livable planet as such) financial burdens. This proposed plan removes the financial consideration.
Beyond the obvious benefits of meeting our 2030 CAP goals, this program also offers economic benefits in the free job training for installation of electric appliances, skills will become increasingly in demand in the coming years.
Taken together, green lighting this project is a no-brainer!
