Dear Mayor Nash and City Council members,
I’d like to call to your attention the April 10th edition of The Almanac with the headline:
Local attorney sues “First Amendment auditors” after downtown Menlo Park dispute.
Since you recently added “Public Safety” to the city’s goals for 2026, there’s every reason for you to take this issue seriously.
In fact, this same group, whose “YouTuber” members hail from Canada and San Diego, traverse California as provocateurs trying to cause trouble and film it to make money off their YouTube channels, recently blinded a man outside of CostCo in Mountain View by pepper-spraying him in the face.
In our own city, the so-called “Auditors” frightened both shoppers and staff at Menlo Park Hardware, and intimidated shoppers heading into or leaving Draeger’s.
As I’m sure you’ll recognize, this is intolerable behavior. They are disturbing the peace, intimidating and harassing our residents and visitors, and need to be prevented from engaging in their despicable shenanigans in the city of Menlo Park.
With the goal of “Public Safety” in mind, I urge you to instruct our police to take action against these reprehensible intruders who pretend to be standing for the. Constitution and law and order while actually engaging in criminal behavior to make a buck.
Sincerely,
Cherie Zaslawsky
