Hello City Council,
I am writing to support Brittany Goodwin’s application for the
Environmental Quality, Housing, and Parks & Recreation Commissions.
Brittany Goodwin is a third-generation resident of Belle Haven, current
Co-Chair of the Menlo Park Climate Change Community Team under CRC
(“CCCT”), and a real estate agent who always shows up for Belle Haven.
Brittany’s regular and ongoing community engagement makes her a strong
candidate for any of the Commissions she applied for, especially the
Environmental Quality Commission.
As a Co-Chair of CCCT, Ms. Goodwin’s leadership style fosters dialogue and
collaboration between residents and local stakeholders with a commitment to
advancing pragmatic initiatives rooted in grassroots decision-making.
As a real estate agent, Brittany has hands-on experience and a practical
understanding of how housing and land use policies intersect with
environmental goals in areas such as green building standards, use of tree
canopies to reduce urban heat, energy-efficient housing, and equitable
access to affordable, sustainable housing -- all issues that are of great
significance to Menlo Park today.
Ms. Goodwin’s background in community engagement—whether through client
interactions or running local meetings—aligns with each Commission’s
mission, furthers the Environmental Justice Element, and can help develop
environmental, housing, and/or recreational strategies that prioritize
environmental resilience and social equity. I strongly endorse Brittany
Goodwin’s candidacy because her commitment to equitable, sustainable
development ensures that Menlo Park enacts policies that balance community
needs with environmental stewardship.
Thank you for your consideration.
Best,
Meredith Rohr
