Dear Council Members,
My name is Dan Crow. My wife and I live at 300 Sand Hill Circle, Apt 303,
Menlo Park. I also serve on the Board of Directors of the Sand Hill Circle
Association as the Vice President. As you may know, Sand Hill Circle is a
residential area consisting of a couple of hundred townhomes and
condominiums. Inside our circle is 3000 Sand Hill Road, which is
an office complex with several vibrant enterprises and a restaurant.
Unfortunately, Sand Hill Road is our only access road. Without it, we are
landlocked. No ingress, no egress, no fire protection, no police
protection, no school buses, no medical response access. For all those
reasons, it is important that Sand Hill Road remain open and
well-maintained. It is my understanding that maintenance on Sand Hill Road
has been recently cancelled due to the tunnel referenced below:
*Cancel projects – Approximately $390,000 in budget could be released by
canceling the CPS025 Sand Hill Tunnel Rehabilitation project. The Sand Hill
Tunnel provides underground access for golf carts / members at the Sharon
Heights Golf and Country Club (SHGCC) across Sand Hill Road. Although
budget was previously identified for the assessment and repair of the
tunnel, the City has no records indicating responsibility of the tunnel.
The City will continue to coordinate with SHGCC on their necessary tunnel
repairs in order to enable the City’s resurfacing of Sand Hill Road. *
This is concerning. The road has cracked, sunken, and shifted. This is
not new; it has been this way for several years. Please see the photo of
the road over the tunnel below:

Please place this repair at the top of your agenda. Infrastructure is a
main governmental function. Please accept that responsibility and move
forward with repairs.
Thank you,
Dan Crow
