So what does this mean? Who is paying for all of this? Or is this back to no parking which is already a nightmare for us the taxpayers and residents. This is the second time the promises by the Council and developers have not been kept.
We already have no MP Police parking enforcement on Rose Ave/Johnson/ University Dr as there is supposedly no money. They do give some tickets as I have seen them, just not on our street. We have Menlo School Sophomores who the school told to park on our street all day starting in March, despite the 2 hour business area restriction. They park in our driveways, they park the wrong way , and one kid had is head in his phone and nearly teeboned a friend of my at Johnson/Rose. It is a dangerous situation for our small narrow street and I doubt that the Fire Dept could get through with the Teslas, Jeeps and BMVs on both sides of the street.
Please please please tell us the truth of what is really going on with the parking, the project and the money to pay for it.
And where is the money for the Police Dept??
thank you
Long time , native resident

>
> But at last week’s City Council study session, the developers admitted they cant replace the public parking without the Citys help - meaning your money:
>
> · Related/Alta is asking the City to contribute $26 million to build an 8-story parking garage at the edge of downtown.
>
> · Presidio Bay — which isnt providing any of the requested low-income housing — still wants the City to kick in $15 million.
>
> · Alliant says the only way they can afford replacement parking is if their project skips prevailing wages. No other developer dared suggest that.

> Of our five council members, only Drew Combs seemed concerned about how Menlo Park taxpayers would pay the bill.
>
> And it gets worse. The developers are asking the City to delay or waive millions in impact fees, which would have otherwise gone to fund city services.
>
> Thats why Novembers ballot measure matters more than ever. If the ballot measure fails, city council members will be able to radically transform the downtown on their own, and leave you the bill.
