permit for residence 305 Haight St.

I am writing about the appeal of the building permit for 305 Haight St. approved by the Planning Commission. I live practically across the street from this proposed residence, and urge you to please send it back for redesign.

This is a 2-story home that is too big for the lot and it requires too many building code variances. It reduces the interior side setback to 3 feet, where 6 is required, placing a 2 story building looming over the neighbors single story home. This is not fair to the next door neighbors. It also reduces the corner side setback to 6 feet, where 12 feet is required. This will reduce visibility for drivers. Many children bike to and from school in out neighborhood, so this could create problems. Thirdly, it reduces the rear setback to 13 feet, where 20 is required, and finally it reduces the number of off-street parking spaces to 1, where 2 are required. These reductions are not fair to the neighborhood.

I urge you to please drive by and look at the site. It is VERY small, and a home of this size will be inappropriate. I realize we desperately need more housing, but this is too much house for this site. Please send it back for redesign so a home more suitable to the site can be approved instead.

Thanks You,
