Dear City Council,
I own a home in Central Menlo and am writing to express my support for increasing the amount of higher density housing and affordable housing to residents in all neighborhoods, including districts 3, 4 and 5.
Enabling residents to live near where they work and enabling those who work in and contribute to the Menlo Park community -- teachers, police and fire department members, after school program staff, home health aids, restaurant workers, retail store workers, etc -- to live in Menlo Park -- brings enormous benefits and helps us to build and preserve a vibrant community.
To this end, I believe the Flood School site provides a unique and much-needed opportunity to further this goal of providing affordable housing in the community and urge you to support the project.
Finally, I was asked to sign the Menlo balance petition and declined. Based on the misleading way it was described to me, I suspect many who signed the petition do not actually support all of the positions within it.
I'm urging you to be a yimby, not a nimby. Our community needs it.
Best,
Emily Bailard
