The man must have been badly hurt since the intersection was closed for a  while. The intersection was closed on August 10 because of this accident.  Maybe he was hit on or near the crosswalk by Draegers.  This is a really dangerous spot because people do not stop at the stop sign.  There appears to me to be no traffic enforcement in down town MP, especially in the Santa Cruz Ave area.  Few people observe any of the stop signs or the speed limit and make brazen U-turns in the middle of the road. If you try to drive the speed limit cars will often get exasperated and pass you in the turn lane or in the opposite lane. Kids on various forms of e-bikes are another problem.  Another problem is people who stop their car in the traffic lane to pick up something from a store because there is insufficient parking, making others wait until they have accomplished their shopping.  Some bare minimum kind of traffic enforcement is needed downtown but isnt happening.  The city is proposing an entertainment area around the 600 block but who is going to go when there is nowhere to park?
