Response to AG on the 80 Willow Project

Members of the Menlo Park City Council,

I continue to encourage the city council to carefully review the letter
from Mr. Bonta. This is a letter, not a judgment. The letter outlines the
viewpoint of the AG and can serve as a springboard to answering his points.
There are many legal issues which can be explored.
On thing that was not addressed was the infrastructure needed on this
parcel of land to service such a large building. Besides utilities and
environmental concerns there are the traffic patterns. Invite him to sit
on Willow Road from 4-5 pm on any workday. How can any emergency vehicle
access the business and residential occupants of such a structure? If
roads are to be widened and utilities upgraded who will pay for these
improvements? It is possible that eminent domain would be needed to
implement these additional improvements. What would that cost the city?

Let us not merely capitulate to Mr. Bontas viewpoint. Although I agree
that something could be build on this site, but not in the scope of the
present proposal. We must also consider the large neighboring developments
at Parkline and USGS. These developments will also impact city services.

Mr. Bonta did not see the total picture. I ask the City Council to
articulate our concerns.
