Dear Council Members,
I have lived in the Willows for 31 years. I am deeply concerned about all the development that is planned off of Middlefield Road. Specifically the 80 Willow Road Project.
I request that the Council reject the developers October 27th deadline as a basis for rushing this decision. The developer should not be dictating our process and through examination of the process. There needs to be a complete environmental impact report that details the risks to public safety and my neighborhood -since I am right next to the creek and NOTHING has been done in 30 years to mitigate the flooding risk. The 80 Willow Road Project as it stands will be a disaster for those living by the creek and surrounding communities.
The project, with its crazy scale will worsen traffic in the Willows and surrounding area. There is NO infrastructure to support this project. As it is right now, we are dealing with terrible traffic on POPE with those cutting through the neighborhood from University Ave to Willow Road. The 80 Willow Road Project, in conjunction with the other developments will completely turn Pope into a highway and destroy the Willows.
New housing should be equitably distributed throughout the city, as required by Menlo Parks approved housing plan. A disproportionate amount of new construction in Menlo Park is currently planned for District 3. Why are we getting the brunt of all of this growth while nothing is happening in Sharon Heights??????
I am in awe of how our Menlo Park City Council has FAILED its residents so spectacularly . Council (past and present). How did you let this happen?
A public hearing must be held and the public must know how each council member will be voting on the project.
