Dear Mayor and Members of the Menlo Park City Council,
We join with many others in the community, asking you to explore all options in blocking the monstrous development proposed for 80 Willow Rd. We agree that Menlo Park needs more housing, but this development is inappropriate for so many reasons. The skyscraper towers are clearly wrong for this creek-side site, which is at an already regularly gridlocked intersection, and which is surrounded by houses and apartment buildings of three stories or less. The location is under a mile from the pools at Burgess Park, yet the developer proposes to include three new pools, along with a luxury hotel, and over 300,000 square feet of office space. It would add more jobs than the housing can support, setting us up to need even more housing after its completion. Clearly Californias Builders Remedy is deeply flawed in permitting a project like this to be considered a housing development and putting Menlo Park and you in in this unhappy and deeply frustrating position. But we hope you will be able to find some way of halting this particular madness.
Sincerely,
Elsa Nimmo
