City Council Members,
I’m extremely concerned about this proposal and the destructive impact to Menlo Park, our public safety, homes, schools, traffic, and the environment. As a Menlo Park resident and tax payer for over 20 years, I oppose the N17s proposal for a multi-tower mini-city planned for 80 Willow Road.
I’ve been blessed to live in Menlo Park for over 20 years (11 years in the Willows and 13 in Fair Oaks). As a resident and business woman it is my duty to speak out to protect our city and ensure due diligence is done in this review process. While there has been significant low-income housing development with appropriate city planning, this project does not align with the state-approved housing plan that city leaders worked hard to pass. It is critical to complete the Environmental Impact Report and uphold existing statues including the requirement for new housing to be equitably distributed throughout the city, as outlined by Menlo Parks approved housing plan.
As tax payers and residents of Menlo Park, my husband and I are asking you to not approve this project as a result of pressure from Sacramento and the developer. My request is for you to prioritize the best interest of Menlo Park by doing the following:
- Reject the developer deadline of 10/27
- Rebute the Attorney General position and not concede by default (3) .
- Review a completed environmental impact report before making any decisions
- Hold a public hearing before any decision is made so residents like me can attend.
- Communicate publicly your position on this important decision before the Nov 3 election
