I am aware that you have informed concerned citizens that your hands are tied and there’s nothing more you can do regarding the project. I urge you to reconsider that conclusion. The project, as proposed, is wrong on many levels. Never mind the obvious fact that it is contrary to the existing built environment and lovely ambiance that defines Menlo Park. It will totally screw up traffic in ways that cannot be managed; the traffic will get bad and stay bad. And that is a very real consideration for emergency access. One developer should not be given the latitude to alter Menlo Park the way N17 has proposed.
I know there are impossible realities associated with AB2011, SB70, the Housing Accountability Act, and myriad other pieces of housing legislation. Somehow, someway, city councils throughout this state need to find a way to address unintended consequences of all that. Not easy, but very necessary.
Let your legacy be that MPCC leads the way. MPFD is nationally known. MPCC can be, too. PUSH BACK!
