Dear Menlo Park City Council Members,
I have been a resident of the Burgess Classic community, adjacent to the
proposed Parkline development project, since 2009.
I support additional housing development in Menlo Park, however, I would
love to see a *sustainable well-studied roadmap* detailing how Menlo Park
will grow across different areas over the next 10 years before approving
individual projects separately.
Parkline project has great elements (housing, common community spaces,
etc), but do we really need 10-story offices and 6-story apartment
buildings on the same block as single-family homes? How will this urban
like real estate - along with the adjacent USGS project and the proposed 80
Willow project - will affect our very suburban infrastructure? I firmly
believe these questions need to be answered before we proceed to transform
a 170+ year old suburban town into the city it will become once we build
these high rises.
So my two specific requests are:
- Conduct a study session of the joint impact of the three major adjacent
development projects (Parkline, USGS, 80 Willow) on the supporting
infrastructure before approving any individual project and develop
individual project recommendations based on the study session
- Reduce the height of the individual buildings in Parkline (particularly
the offices) to preserve consistency with the adjacent predominantly single
family home neighborhoods
