To Members of the Menlo Park City Council,
I have lived in the Linfield Oaks neighborhood for eighteen years, and I am
extremely worried about the effect the proposed development project at 80
Willow Road (the old Sunset Magazine headquarters) would have on our
neighborhood and our town.
I understand that the developer is trying to pressure our town
representatives (you) into throwing away reason and good stewardship of our
community by threatening a lawsuit. I understand the developer feels
emboldened by the recent letter sent to you from the California
Attorney Generals office which asserts Menlo Park may have violated state
housing law in how it processed the developers application. I have no
legal background and am unqualified to comment on those assertions. I have
reason to believe the city acted in good faith and that two wrongs do not
make a right. Capitulating at this pivotal moment in our towns history
would be a terrible mistake that would have irreversible negative
consequences for all those who live within miles of the proposed
development forever.
I urge you to stay steady and proceed with level-headed authority and not
be bullied into forsaking your duty to the people of Menlo Park. I hope
that we can all avoid losing our town and home as we know it.
Thank you for your continued service to our community.
Sincerely,
Tricia Teason
