Has the City changed the policy on front yard fencing? Or are you simply unwilling to enforce the codes? The newly redeveloped property at 720 Vine just installed a 7’ tall front yard wooden wall, and a property owner living adjacent to Oak Knoll school on Oak just enclosed their entire front yard in a 7’ tall fence. I also have understand that the home across from me at 380 Cotton that is about to be redeveloped will also have what the owner has described as “a lovely wall” in the front yard. This really degrades the neighborhood; one of the joys of Menlo Park is the lovely front yard gardens that are there for everyone to enjoy seeing.
I’ve also noticed that several properties along Middle have tall hedges and plantings that encroach on the sidewalk, forcing pedestrians to walk single file or head out into the street.
On a slightly different topic, I’ve also noticed quite a few properties that don’t have street trees. Those street trees really make walking a lot more enjoyable, especially on hot days.
Please do a better job of enforcing existing codes!
