Population/Respondent statistics:
It was interesting that of those who responded 14% did not even live in Menlo Park. It would be instructive to know whether this 14% is comprised of the Masters and Team Sheeper participants.
Of those who did respond:
33% had lived in MP over 20 years
21% had lived in MP 10-19 years
So it is likely that many are late middle aged to elderly.
Age of Respondents:
27% were over 65
40% were 45-64
16% were 65-74
9% were over 75
Only 7% were 25-34
Which also indicates the majority of respondents were middle aged to elderly
Priorities of Residents:
There was overwhelming support for more pickleball courts
Many people wanted the gymnastics program brought back
Many people advocated for water wellness programs
There was relatively little support for competitive swimming programs
Comments:
There were many comments alluding to the emphasis placed by Sheeper on profit rather than community, although there were some avid Masters participants who lauded his management of the pool. However, it was also noted that (although the city pays for maintenance) the management had delayed seeing that vital back up parts were ordered although equipment had not been functioning well.
