Dear Mayor and Members of the Menlo Park City Council,
We are writing to thank you for your recent statement regarding the proposed 80 Willow Road project and your decision to not approve the project under the terms recently set forth by the California Attorney General’s office.
We appreciate the Council’s willingness to stand by a careful and deliberate review process, particularly given the significant legal and procedural issues surrounding this project. Your decision demonstrates the importance of taking the time to fully consider the City’s legal obligations, the project’s impacts, and the interests of the Menlo Park community before taking such a consequential action.
We also appreciate the Council’s willingness to communicate its position publicly at this important point in the process. Having a clear explanation of the City’s position helps residents understand the issues and the considerations informing the Council’s actions.
Thank you for your time, diligence, and commitment to representing the community while navigating what is clearly a complicated and challenging situation. I hope the Council will continue to carefully evaluate all available legal and procedural options and keep residents informed as this matter moves forward.
