My name is Ashley Jowell, and I am a Stanford University Medical Student and Menlo Park district 5 rewudebt. I am emailing to express my strong support for the Council to elect Maria Doerr to the Menlo Park City Council District 5 seat.
Maria would be an incredible addition to the Menlo Park City Council. I have known her for ten years since I was an undergraduate student, and she stands out to me as someone who cares deeply about the well-being of others as well as her community. She is always looking out for her peers and family with her presence and compassion. In addition, she has always been dedicated to creating community - whether it was helping staff a dorm for students, to gathering people together in her Menlo Park home this year, to helping our "environmental" friend group stay close knit for a decade.
As someone in healthcare, I have seen how important it is to have a strong community and social support. Maria is someone who embodies these characteristics with her warmth, openness, and care for others. She also is passionate about the environment, and has dedicated her career to help mitigate environmental issues. I know she would bring that environmental , sustainability perspective as well to the Menlo Park City Council.
I cannot imagine a person who I would be more thrilled to be serving my community in this way! She would bring her brilliance, compassion, and kindness to the position! Finally, I would love to have someone in my generation (in her 20s/30s) in this leadership position!
