Hello City Council,
I am a resident of Menlo Park, and I would like to voice my support for safe bike lanes on Middle Ave. I am aware that the council is choosing a redesign for the street at an upcoming meeting this week.
As a Stanford graduate student who does not own a car, it is important to me to have safe bike lanes, especially on large streets like Middle Ave. I take Middle Ave to get between Stanford and downtown Menlo Park frequently, and so I am very excited that the city is planning to add bike lanes to the street. I would like to ask that you choose Option 1 of the design choices so that these bike lanes may be safe and away from parked cars.
I know many members of the Stanford community who live in Menlo Park and rely on Middle Ave to bike to campus, and I am aware that this number will be increasing as the new development on El Camino is completed. I urge you to protect us bikers by removing the parking along the street.
