I was a masters swimmer a number of years ago and have been a frequent lap swimmer for many years at Burgess and Rinconada (both operated by Team Sheeper). I have to say I have been puzzled by the Citys continued desire to get rid of Team Sheeper. This organization provides offerings that satisfy a vast range of needs including splashing in the pool with family and friends, lessons for kids and seniors, swim team training for youth and adults plus MANY hours of lap swimming. They manage to achieve high utilization rates without overcrowding.
While I have never been disappointed by Team Sheeper, I would be very disappointed with the City of Menlo Park if it changed operators at this point. The users are happy, the fees are modest, staff are friendly, and all the different groups have a lot of access to the water. What more could the city want? It would be very difficult for a new operator to step in and replicate what Sheeper has done -- in fact, the proposed schedule from Swan seems to have fewer hours than Sheeper. Please DO NOT change pool operators.
