Dear Council,
I am in favor of keeping Santa Cruz Ave closed to cars in the existing locations. This is a great opportunity to consider some improvements:
1. Enlarge the Bon Marche to both sides of the street to allow room for seating and expansion.
2. Study options for bicycle access. The 6 bike lane option in the staff report is a good place to start.
3. Reduce the three car lanes to two at the El Camino intersection.This will allow room for bulbouts to shorten the crossing distance and increase safety. See rendering below.
