Cynthia,

The webinar recording has not been posted yet, but the individual presentations and several short videos are available at the bottom of the page here: https://sites.google.com/view/lifescienceswebinarinfo/home

The attached memo from the Sierra Club to San Mateo County addresses the same issues as the webinar, but I recommend watching the video when it becomes available. I found the webinar very educational, and important information with all the biotech facility proposals under review.

Thanks for your invitation to speak at the study session. I will be attending the meeting in person to speak on another item and will join later on Zoom for the discussion.

Hi Naomi -

Thank you for your email. I was out of the country and not able to attend the webinar on March 2. Is there a recording of it? If so, could you forward it to me? (You may want to send it along to all of the PC and CC members as I am guessing most did not attend.)

We actually have a life sciences proposal on tonights Planning Commission meeting. You are of course welcome to attend and make a public comment either in person or via Zoom.

Thanks.
Cynthia

Members of the City Council,

I hope that members of the City Council and the Planning Commission will attend an upcoming webinar: Planning For Life Sciences in Bay Area Communities. This webinar, sponsored by the Sierra Club, will be informative for the Safety Element of the Housing Element Update.

Life sciences/ biotech developments are being proposed and constructed at many locations along the Bayshore, from South San Francisco to Sunnyvale. Builders prefer biotech to office and light industry uses due to the premium price that they can get for these buildings. Although I am not aware of any such developments proposed for Menlo Park at this time, it is important that the City have policies in place to protect residents and the environmental health of the Bay.
