Hello Council Members,
I am writing to express my support for the police department’s request to add license plate readers and gun shot detection devices to Menlo Park. I strongly believe in the efficacy of these devices and their ability to help keep the community safer.
In December, we had a large stack of holiday packages stolen 15 minutes after UPS delivered them. Thanks to Nest recordings that captured the perpetrator’s license plate, MP police put out a notification, and an hour later Belmont police received an alert on their license plate readers that they had found the van. They pulled it over and found it full of stolen items. It is hard to find a more efficient use of technology.
