Dear City Council: I am writing in full support of requested staffing increases for our Library and Community Services. As long-time Menlo Park residents, my family and I have enjoyed these terrific resources, all of which are delivered and enhanced by the dedicated staffs across the facilities. I am also a member of the Menlo Park Library Foundation Board and, while I am not writing on behalf of the Board, my tenure has allowed me to further experience the great and dedicated work of the our library and community staff members.
Approving the requested increase of 6 FTE will allow the city to best meet the needs of our community, including the needs that will emerge when the new MPCC opens its doors. This facility can be transformative for Menlo Park and I believe that sufficient staffing can help to ensure that we start strong and maintain a high level of service for all.
Budgeting decisions are never easy and I appreciate that you have a number of important considerations. I believe that providing the proper staffing levels for these services can yield significant, valuable and durable benefits across our entire community for years to come.
