Dear Menlo Park Councilmembers,
Our family lives in the Willows and our two children attend Hillview Middle
School and Menlo-Atherton High School. Our older daughter children
use Coleman to get to and from M-A, and our younger daughter will in a few
years. We really appreciate the pilot program on Coleman that was recently
made permanent. It has helped us feel much more comfortable about biking on
the street.
However, we are hoping for a physical barrier between our children and cars
going twice their speed. Additionally, cars often park or idle in the bike
lane, forcing our kids into the car lane. We are hoping that the city will
consider installing flexible posts along the bike lane. The paint on the
ground does not feel sufficient to ensure that our children are safe.
