Esteemed City Council Members,
I live on a cul de sac and believe that the current Subdivision Ordinance,
which contains a different required front setback for buildings on lots
along a cul-de-sac than other lots in the City, should stay in place. Each
relevant lot on my cul de sac is very different from the other three, with
the houses therefore appropriately positioned on their lots very
differently from each other. The current ordinance does an excellent job
of meeting General Plan Goal LU-2 (Maintain and enhance the character,
variety, and stability of Menlo Park’s residential neighborhoods) and
Policy LU-2.1 (Neighborhood Compatibility) in the case of the cul de sac
lots. While plans for buildings on these lots under the current ordinance
may take relatively more review by the Planning Department, the unusual
shapes and layouts of these lots warrants those reviews in meeting these
city goals.
Respectfully,
Anne Perlman
