Dear Menlo Park City Council Members:
An article in "The Almanac", 'Study Shows Stanford Can Triple Its Density,' by Gennady Sheyner ((9/12/'18), and an article in the
“Palo Alto Weekly”, ‘Palo Alto Resists Grand Jury Recommendations on Housing’ by Gennady Sheyner triggered me to write this
letter.
A year ago the hot topics / buzz words were "Global Warming and "Rising Tides". Today the topic is "Affordable Housing". What do
all of these topics have in common? What is the common denominator of these three issues? An overabundance of people! What is the
reason, the motive, the purpose for encouraging and supporting all three of these dilemmas?
It is time Stanford, - and our cities, stop Building, Building, and Building. This only causes more traffic, more shortage of
affordable housing, more water use, waste, noise, tension, frustration, fear, doubt - almost a " dog eat dog" attitude. People
need space to call their own. Right now we are encouraging wall to wall, city to city housing, big businesses, rush, rush, rush
and money, money, money.
Why not decrease large businesses and housing developments, hire people who already live in the area, and support family planning
and environmental organizations? The cost of housing will naturally decrease for all. It is time to help make life more harmonious
for everyone.
