Dear Menlo Park City Council,
I write to you as a 20 year resident of Menlo Park, a physician who cares for children in our community, and a concerned citizen.
Your proposed affordable housing development in downtown Menlo Park is shortsighted and the fact that you haven’t taken the time to truly vet the implications in the short and long term is egregious. You were elected to serve the interest of this community, not of the highest bidder.
There is no downside to taking a pause and considering your proposal from all directions. Once put in motion, this is bound to fail. I would truly hope that you listen to the voice and reason of the residents in this community who have no interest other than to protect the interests of the rest of us, an interest it seems as though you are lacking.
Please please do not pass this. Please listen to the advice you would give anyone that you care about when faced with a decision of this magnitude; stop, take a pause, consider all angles and only then, respond or make a decision.
Respectfully,
Karli Cleary
