Ive dialed back in (phone not zoom) but am unsure how to speak when my name is called since when I dialed back in it said my line would be muted.

Thank you for advising and if I am unable to speak then I would like these comments shared for the record:

I am a Peninsula native and Menlo Park resident of 20 years who raised my family here and am actively involved with Menlo Park public schools. I am completely supportive of affodrdable housing and understand the urgency of HCD but want to add my voice to those urging the Council to slow down and present a more balanced plan. Im concerned that the parking study is going to be completed next summer but were asked to support the Council in voting tonight before the study results are known. Its unclear, to me anyway, if the housing developments will have dedicated parking for residents or if the replacement parking, which is recommended not required in this proposal, is meant to serve residents and downtown visitors. Finally, I agree with the speakers who have cited the SRI lot, the lots surrounding the city council chambers and other large parking lots as equally suitable properties for affordable housing. Those lots are large, close to public transportation and in areas that are mixed use including existing residential housing. Id like to see a balanced plan that includes those parking lots and one of the downtown parking lots dedicated to affordable housing. Id also like to see specific plans, not studies promised to be completed next summer, to replace at least one surface parking lot with a parking structure which is a far more efficient use of space and will support both our new neighbors and our downtown businesses so that we can welcome new neighbors and have a more equitable community without decimating a downtown that Menlo Park residents rely on.
