Lower Laurel Bike Ride Tomorrow Morning (Fri, 6/18 at 7:55am)

Hi City Council Members,
I wanted to let you know that a bunch of Lower Laurel families will be meeting up tomorrow (Friday) morning to ride to school
together. The MPPD will be accompanying us and have already put out a digital sign on Coleman alerting drivers to exercise extra
caution on Coleman Ave. We greatly appreciate their help in making this a joyous and safe ride for kids. We'll be meeting at
Seminary Oaks Park at 7:55am. More details below. Come join us if you can!
Sincerely,Jen

Bike to Lower Laurel on Friday, June 8th

Calling all Lower Laurel Kindergarten, 1st Grade and 2nd Grade Families! Have you ever wanted to give your kids the opportunity to
bike or scoot to Lower Laurel, but were concerned about their safety? Now's your chance! Does your child already bike to school
but you wish there were more families out there? I’ve got exciting news for you! On Friday, June 8th, join me and my family, and
other Lower Laurel students and their families as we bike to school together. We will ride in mass through our neighborhoods and
show our kids how fun biking to school can be.

We’ll gather at 7:55am at Seminary Oaks Park (at the entrance to the playground). The route will take us along Santa Monica
Avenue, down Coleman Avenue to Ringwood, ending at Lower Laurel. Please come 5 minutes early so we can make sure helmets fit
properly.

Please note that participation, your own and your children’s, is at your own risk. Neither Laurel Elementary School nor the
organizers of this event are responsible for the supervision and/or safety of children biking or getting to school in any way.
Kids must be accompanied by an adult. There will be no supervision for children traveling alone. Parents must be in control of
their own children at all times.

In addition, children (and parents) participating in this ride will be expected to:

* Wear a helmet

* Follow all road rules for bicyling (https://www.ots.ca.gov/pdf/BicyclePedSafetyBrochure.pdf
[https://www.ots.ca.gov/pdf/BicyclePedSafetyBrochure.pdf])

* Stay with the group and have kids stay on the non-traffic side of the street

* Stop with the group at every stop sign (we’ll stop together and go together)

* Follow directions

Now is the time to pump air in your tires and hit the gym so that you and your kids will be ready to join other Lower Laurel
families on Friday, June 8th. Please RSVP here

8th!

Sincerely,
