Dear City Council Members,
Thank you for your service as council members.
I have been a resident of Menlo Park for the past 20+ years and have personally witnessed the growth of the City along with the
changes that growth have brought to us. I learned the Facebook project will be discussed at the Council meeting tonight. I was at
the last Council meeting where a number of community members from neighborhoods, Menlo Atherton High School and Sequoia Union High
School District expressed concerns about the impact of additional housing units within the school attendance boundary.
As a parent of current MAHS student and as a big supporter of public school education, I have big concerns about the impact of the
FB project on enrollment at MA. I’d like to see an impact assessment be required of FB. Such large unplanned growth would hugely
negatively impact MA, our students, traffic accessing the school, school parking, our community. We all know that the health of a
community can be measured in its schools, and that will falter with large unplanned growth at an already very large, maxed out but
still excellent, school. Menlo Park has become a desirable place to live because of excellent public schools, and we should not
jeopardize the quality of public school education in the name of economic growth.
I hope that you will require an impact assessment, followed by a meaningful plan from FB to address the impact of its expansion on
Menlo Atherton High School.
Thank you for your consideration.Nami TurnerMenlo ParkParent of MAHS student
